Adrok’s zonation method for lithology is part of its proprietary Atomic Dielectric Resonance (ADR) scanning approach, which analyzes the electromagnetic response of subsurface materials to identify and distinguish geological layers (lithologies).

Zonation refers to the process of dividing the subsurface into discrete zones or layers, each characterized by specific dielectric, radiometric, and resonant properties that are interpreted to represent different lithologies (rock types) or geophysical characteristics.

Adrok uses pattern recognition, machine learning, or statistical classification techniques (depending on the project) to classify the data into zones.

Each zone corresponds to a distinct lithological unit—e.g., sandstone, granite, shale, clay, water-bearing layers.

Correlation with Ground Truth: Where available, data is correlated with core samples, borehole logs, or seismic data to validate the lithological interpretations. Over time, Adrok builds a library of dielectric signatures for known lithologies, improving classification accuracy.

Applications

  • Geothermal Exploration: Identify heat-bearing granites, fault zones, hydrothermal alterations.
  • Hydrocarbon Exploration: Map cap rocks, reservoir rocks, and fluid zones.
  • Mining: Detect ore bodies or alteration halos.
  • Environmental & Engineering: Map contaminant zones or weak ground.
