New Zealand Geothermal

Adrok have applied their sub-surface heat detection methods in the Wairakei Geothermal Field near the Taupo Volcanic Zone, New Zealand.

The Wairakei Geothermal Field is one of New Zealand’s most important and historically significant geothermal areas, located near Taupō in the central North Island, within the Taupō Volcanic Zone (TVZ).

The geothermal system is hosted in volcanic rocks, mainly rhyolitic ignimbrites, pumice, and lava flows formed by large explosive eruptions over the past few hundred thousand years.

Heat is supplied by shallow magma bodies beneath the TVZ.

Permeable fault zones allow hot fluids to circulate upward, creating surface and subsurface geothermal features.
